Every two years the CYC hosts an election to elect Youth Councillors in all of our chapters across Canada. Our chapters are the only democratically elected network of Youth Councils in North America.
Voting is a fundamental right of our democracy. When you vote for your Youth Councillor, you are selecting one of your peers to represent you at City Hall to ensure youth have a strong voice in how your City functions.
Municipal government is involved in many aspects of our daily lives — from fixing roads, providing water and electricity, collecting garbage, caring for children, youth, and the elderly, running public transit, supporting the arts, and protecting your city’s citizens.
